This is a timeline of various political, legal, military, social, economic and environmental events that have occurred in Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, Timor-Leste, Brunei) that are relevant to libertarian socialism.
1900s
- 1973: The October 14 Revolt occurs in Thailand, bringing an end to the military dictatorship and beginning of a new progressive democracy.
- 1987: The Timorese Independence Movement begins, desiring an end to the military occupation of Timor-Leste by the Indonesian Military.
- 1998: Students and workers across Indonesia rebel against the New Order regime, toppling it.
- 1998: The Acechinese Indepedence Movement begins, desiring Acehinese autonomy from Indonesia.
2000s
- 2007: The failed Saffron Revolution occurs across Myanmar in an effort to topple the dictatorship.
- 2007: Workers at PT Istana take over their workplace.
- 2007: Citizens around the Irrawady River in Myanmar block the construction of a dam.[1]
