This is a timeline of various political, legal, military, social, economic and environmental events that have occurred in Middle Africa that are relevant to libertarian socialism.
1900s
- 1992: Citizens of Malawi succeed in bringing down a 30-year long dictatorship using strikes, assemblies and sabotage.[1]
- 1997: The Dead City Strike occurs in the Democratic Republic of Congo with the aim of democracy, but backfires after a new military dictatorship betrays the strikers for its own power.[2]
2000s
- 2000: The São Tomé and Principe Strike occurs and leads to an increase in wages for civil servants.[3]
- 2007: The Burundi Civil Servants' Strike occurs in response to government corruption and low wages. The strike wins a 34% increase in wages for teachers, doctors and other civil workers.[4]
- 2011: The Rwandan Textile Workers' Strike occurs in response to low wages, poor working conditions and unjust firing of employees.[5]
