This is a timeline of various political, legal, military, social, economic and environmental events that have occurred in Caribbean that are relevant to libertarian socialism.
1800s
- 1816: Bussa's Rebellion, the largest slave revolt in Barbadian history, occurs. Contributing to the eventual abolition of slavery.
- 1892: Students at the University of Havana Strike to Restore Doctoral Degrees.[1]
1900s
- 1903: Trinidad and Tobago Water Riots
- 1968: The two-year long Black Power Revolution begins in Trinidad and Tobago.
- 1969: Citizens all over Curaçao participate in an anti-colonial uprising.[2]
2000s
- 2006: Oil workers in Aruba successfully strike for increased wages, benefits, holidays and pensions.[3]
- 2007: Citizens all over Curaçao fight against austerity, winning increased autonomy for the country and investment in social services.[4]
- 2009: Black and indigenous citizens of Guadelope rise up against colonialism and capitalism.
2010s
- 2010: Citizens in the Florida Keys organize a large mutual aid campaign to prepare for the consequences of the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.[5]
- 2015: The Anarchist Federation of Central America and the Caribbean (FACC) is formed after a conference of various anarchist groups in Santiago de los Cabaleros.[6]
