Britta Gröndahl (1914 - 2002) was an anarcho-syndicalist, anarcha-feminist, teacher, historian, journalist and SAC organiser.
Life
Born in Eskilstuna, she was the daughter of a conservative politician and was one of the first women in Sweden to get a grammar school degree (in Latin) in 1931, she married in 1936 and studied language at university. She became a passionate musician and befriended many others, and became increasingly curious about anarchism in the 1950s, studying Proudhon, the IWW and Simone Weil, becoming a respected historian and journalist.
She helped organise with the SAC and befriended Augustin Souchy, she began traveling in 1962, smuggling large amounts of money into Spain to the underground CNT, and witnessed the May 1968 Events in France and the Carnation Revolution in Portugal as a journalist in 1974. She later taught French and translated the works of Michel Foucault into Swedish.[1]
