The Kingdom of Belgium is a liberal and capitalist state located in Western Europe, bordering France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany.
History
Wave of Political Scandals (1985 - 1999)
During the Revolutions of the 1980s and 1990s, a massive wave of scandals were uncovered in Belgium. These include:
- The Marc Dutroux Affair, uncovering the involvement of Belgian police and politicians and child sex trafficking and child pornography rings.
- The Agusta Scandal, massive bribes of politicians to secure contracts for corporations.
- The UNIOP–INUSOP Affair, a case of government corruption
- The Assassination of Socialist Politician André Cools by members of the government.
- The Dioxine Affair.
