Conspiracy Theories refer to explanations of an event or situation that invokes a conspiracy by sinister and powerful actors, often political in motivation and usually by the government, organised crime groups or large corporations. Although the term 'conspiracy theory' is usually used as an insult, many conspiracies actually make more sense than the official explanations.

List of Conspiracies

Confirmed Conspiracies

Conspiracies that the actors in said conspiracy have admitted to participating in

  • Cannes and Nice bombings - an effort by French neo-nazis to commit several bombings in African communities and blame them on Zionists in order to start a race war between Jews and and French Africans.
  • COINTELPRO, an effort by the FBI to disrupt 'extremist' (predominantly left-wing) organisations
  • Marxist–Leninist Party of the Netherlands, set up by the Dutch Secret Service to gain contacts in China and divide the left.
  • MK-ULTRA, an effort by the CIA to develop mind control techniques, that included kidnapping American citizens and administer drugs (notably LSD) without their knowledge or consent
  • Watergate, an effort by US Republicans to break into the office of the Democratic Party during an election campaign to gain key inside information.

Very Likely Conspiracies

For conspiracies with significant amounts of evidence to support them and no plausible alternative explanations

  • Belgian police were participants in a child sex trafficking ring that was exposed in the 1990s.[1]
  • Juanita Nielsen - The journalist and left-wing activist based in Sydney, Australia who disappeared was killed by the mafia and covered up by local police for her support for the Green Bans (hurting profits in the Mafia-linked construction industry) and efforts to expose police corruption.[2]
  • War on Drugs - The global campaign to end the illegal drug trade is actually about increasing the power of the police, profits for well-connected organised crime groups and repressing left-wing social movements across the world.

Likely Conspiracies

Conspiracies with a fair amount of evidence behind them, but plausible alternative explanations do exist

  • John F. Kennedy - The US President who was assassinated in 1963 was done so by the CIA and Mafia for his anti-crime and (somewhat) anti-war policies.
  • Malcolm X - The black activist in the US who was assassinated in 1965 was killed by the FBI as a part of COINTELPRO.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. - The black activist in the US who was assassinated in 1968 was killed by the FBI as a part of COINTELPRO.
  • Olof Palme - The Swedish prime minister who was assassinated in 1986 was killed by the CIA and South African police working together to help preserve Apartheid.

Unlikely Conspiracies

Conspiracies with some evidence, but there are gaps in the theory and plausible alternative explanations.

  • Helmin Wiels - leftist and anti-colonial politician from Curucao who was assassinated for his plans to crack down on government corruption and nationalise certain industries.
  • Lost Cosmonauts - The USSR covered up failed spaceflights in order to seem more organised during the Cold War.

Very Unlikely Conspiracies

Conspiracies with very little evidence to support them, and its usually circumstantial evidence

  • Kibbutzim - Zionist and Imperialist plots to steal Arab land.[3]
  • Rojava - Zionist and Imperialist plot to steal Arab land.[3]
  • Zapatistas - they are in fact a front by drug cartels to destablise the Mexican government.[4]
