The Confederation of Revolutionary Anarcho-Syndicalists (KRAS-MAT) is an anarcho-syndicalist, anti-fascist and anarcho-communist confederation that helps organise trade unions in Russia. They were established in 1995 and has been the Russian section of the International Workers' Association in 1996.

History

Background

During Glasnost and Perestroika, anarchists in the USSR began to organise. The Confederation of Anarcho-Syndicalists (CAS) was formed in 1989, but was seen as too pro-market, anti-communist and pacifist. Leading some more militant members to split and form the KRAS, advocating for revolution and communism. This was at a conference in Moscow on the 5th of August, 1995, the split destroyed the CAS.[1]

  • 1996: KRAS joined the International Workers' Association.
  • 1999: KRAS participates in anti-war demonstrations against the war in Chechnya
  • 2008: KRAS participates in anti-war demonstrations against the war in South Ossetia
  • 2008: Fascists infiltrating the KRAS are exposed and expelled
  • 2009: KRAS protests outside the Ukrainian embassy in solidarity with anarchists arrested in Kiev
  • 2009: KRAS protests outside the Serbian embassy in solidarity with the Serbian Six
  • 2010: KRAS organises protests against cuts to funding public transport
  • 2012: KRAS protests against cuts to healthcare and education across Russia
  • 2018: KRAS participates in protests against pension reforms in Russia, calling for a general strike
