Anarcho-Communism (sometimes called Anarchist Communism, Libertarian Communism, Free Communism, Communist-Anarchism or Stateless Communism) is an anarchist school of thought which advocates for the complete abolition of the market economy, money and trade to be replaced by a confederation of community assemblies, worker controlled-industry, a gift economy and horizontal economic planning.

History

Proto-Anarcho-Communism

Anarcho-communism was the dominant economy for most of human history, existing in numerous forager economies and ancient civilizations. But as the market economy spread to more parts of the world and people became forced into monetary and statist relationships, the idea of anarcho-communism repeatedly emerged as a distinct philosophy and movement across societies.[1] This emerged as both distinct philosophies advocating for anarcho-communistish societies and practical mutual aid networks. Notable examples of these groups include Taoists, the Cynics, the Stoics, Mazdakism, the Taborites, the Diggers and the Enrages.

Example Societies

The application of anarcho-communism can mainly be seen in five kinds of society. Forager economies, ancient civilizations, solidarity economies, intentional communities and open-source software.
